"Time is the only resource with which man has in his conscious life. Different communities and nations have developed a variety of systems for their use and assessment, which individuals belong to have adopted in the course of their civilisation. In the last centuries of human history they have been marked by the establishment of a concept for use and evaluation of time on the territory of the whole planet. The European nations themselves, under the influence of the features of their historic development have worked out rather specific concept for it, on which the basic idea has been tied to its triune character - time is a process, elapsing from the past through present towards future. This concept has been formed under the strong impact of settled farming way of life over organisation of the social economic development of the European nations as a whole. In the course of millenniums Europeans have implemented their agricultural working activity by a rather specific way - at present they must continuously put aside an amount of their products during a further or nearer period of time so as to assure their future existence. And in order they could compensate for possible harmful influence of a great number of risk factors (natural and social), they always aimed at producing more than it has been necessary for them and they developed an inherent system for the capitalisation of their time - using market where continuously increasing products have been evaluated by the time invested in them in terms of money.
               The triune concept for time also exerts its impact on the economic systems of the European nations from the age of industrialisation. For instance, a lot of the elements of the European way of agricultural production could also be followed in the contemporary industrial productions including various activities of prediction, planning, organisation and control of relevant production processes based on a concept of time as a process subject to capitalisation. This concept of time is also invested in the functioning of the social system of the European communities - from education as a long-lasting process of investment of capitalised time in the development of humanity to the organisation of the systems of social protection at which the working people give a part of their income at present in order they could collect it in the shape of social aid at possible occurrence of a specific risk situation in an unclear future.", p. 54
